Providence Health & Services Volunteer Services Coordinator - Hospice in Anchorage, Alaska

Description:

Providence is calling a Volunteer Services Coordinator (Day Shift, 1.0 FTE/40 hours a week) to Providence Home Services-Hospice in Anchorage, AK. In this position you will:

  • Identify opportunities for volunteer service. Coordinates with hospice staff to develop needs-based service opportunities

  • Maintain collaborative relationships and coordinates with other PH&SA departments to enhance and expand service opportunities as appropriate

  • Develop and oversee volunteer leader opportunities where appropriate.

  • Monitor program activities for quality and excellence. Track and communicate program activity levels and outcomes to appropriate audiences (leadership staff, internal and external publics). Identify opportunities for improvement and/or growth

  • Develop, administer, and provide analysis for annual volunteer evaluations

  • Recruit and place volunteers in aptitude/skill level/interest appropriate service positions within hospice framework. Act as an on-going resource for volunteers providing guidance, support and developmental feedback where appropriate. Counsel and terminate volunteers when necessary

  • Provide continuing education to internal and external audiences on volunteer support and retention. Act as a resource for other PH&SA volunteer programs as requested.

  • Ensure annual volunteer health & safety requirements are met in a timely manner

  • Coordinates all celebratory and recognition events for volunteers (i.e. Volunteer Week Celebration).

  • Performs competencies as identified by the Competency Focused System process.

  • Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Two (2) years experience in program coordination, volunteer management, and/or human resource development or closely related area.

  • Must have a reliable transportation, and automobile insurance according to Alaska State Motor Vehicle laws.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related areas
