Providence Health & Services Surgical Tech Team Lead - Operating Room in Anchorage, Alaska

Description:

Providence is calling a Surgical Tech Team Lead (Operating Room, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • Coordinate with the RN Team Leader to manage a subspecialty area.

  • Be able to effectively communicate with all surgical team members changes and updates in the subspecialty readily and timely.

  • Coordinate specialty equipment present for cases in the subspecialty to assure smooth running surgical cases and surgeon satisfaction.

  • Be able to effectively work with sales representatives and coordinate through RN Team Leaders, OR management, Sterile Processing and Supply Chain Management new supplies, equipment or instruments for approval to trial or purchase.

  • Be able to precept and mentor new employees in an effective manner to achieve competent technician staff in the subspecialty.

  • Observe, monitor and correct any deficiencies in sterile technique. Advocate of Universal Protocol methods and assure compliance by OR Technicians.

  • Work as OR technician in the OR room approximately 60% of the time with the remaining time devoted to Team Lead Technician work.

  • Help facilitate turnovers and first time starts in the subspecialty.

  • Work with surgeons, Anesthesiologists, RN's, and other surgical personnel in delivering patient care during surgery.

  • Handle Instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure, anticipates the needs of the surgeon in providing these, and maintains a sterile environment.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Equivalent other or on the job clinical training is acceptable with demonstrated operating room experience at the surgical technologist level or higher

  • Operating Room experience for candidates who have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technology Program or have completed other accredited programs by the Liaison Council on Verification for the Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technician Military Training program

  • Candidates with equivalent other or at least 6 months of on the job clinical training must have operating room experience scrubbing on surgical procedures

Preferred qualifications for this position include :

  • Graduation from a Surgical Technology Program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation or other program accredited by the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical Technologist or completion of a Surgical Technician Military Training program; equivalent other or on the job clinical training is acceptable with demonstrated operating room experience at the surgical technologist level or higher.

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST)

This is a great opportunity to be employed by the largest OR facility in Alaska, that has the latest technology including robotics and provides state of the art patient care. Currently we have 17 OR suites and we are expanding. With over 1,000 cases per month, all surgical procedures are performed here except for organ transplants.
