Providence Quality Regulatory Services Manager - St. Elias in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Quality Regulatory Services Manager (Performance Improvement, Days, 1.0 FTE) at St Elias Specialty Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position, you will:
Risk/Patient Safety: Work locally and in collaboration with Alaska Regional Risk/Patient Safety (RPS) services to facilitate administration of subpoenas delivered to the facility. Actively investigate UORs, facilitates RCAs and participate in Safety Event Rating Team (SERT) activities. Able to perform risk mitigation assessments. Assist with continuous caregiver and provider education as guided by the Alaska Regional Clinical Council (ARCC) and Regional RPS team. Facilitate local educational support for Caring Reliably as an instructor of Toolbox for Everyone and chairman of One Safety Council.
Medical Staff Services/Peer Review: Assist in collection and review of information related to Medical Staff Privileging via the Regional CVO. Maintains knowledge of current Medical Staff process according to Medical Staff Bylaws. Facilitate investigate of clinical quality or behavioral concerns for providers in cooperation with Regional Peer Review process. Assists with clinical quality improvement reviews, such as unexpected deaths and escalations in care for the AK Region.
Infection Prevention: Coordinate and promote education and surveillance efforts as prescribed by Regional Infection Prevention plan.
Patient Experience: Serve as a local intermediary with patients for grievance reporting and investigation. Coordinate responses with Regional Patient Experience team. Support process improvement as guided by patient and caregiver experience surveys.
Regulatory Accreditation: Locally support regional program for “Ready for Every Patient” preparedness for continuous awareness and compliance with TJC and CMS guidelines. Assist Program Directors and Clinical Managers in reviewing and updating policies for conformity to agency policies and professional/regulatory standards.
Quality Improvement/Data Analysis: Represent the local facility on the Alaska Regional Clinical Council (ARCC). Responsible for reporting to the ARCC and the Quality sub-committee of the Providence Alaska Regional Board (PARB). Supports quality improvement initiatives to meet system goals.
Demonstrate excellent teamwork, collaboration, leadership and communication skills to enable effective partnership for Quality Regulatory Services within the Alaska Region.
Responsible for continuous evaluation of process improvement; must have a strong working knowledge of the operations and key success elements in both the local operational area and other facilities within the Alaska Region.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field or RN License with 5 years of acute care and/or quality improvement experience.
Current, non-encumbered health related licensure/certification (e.g. nursing, pharmacy, radiology, respiratory therapy, etc).
Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), Healthcare Accreditation Certified Professional (HACP), or Joint Commission Certified Professional (CJCP) required or obtained within 12 months of hire.
Certified Healthcare Quality Professional within 2 years of hire date
Two (2) years Acute care clinical experience
Designing, implementing, and leading clinical outcome improvement programs.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Master's Degree in health care related field.
Previous experience with Joint Commission survey coordination at facility level

St. Elias Specialty Hospital is owned by Providence Health System. The hospital has 59 beds, almost all private rooms. The facility features state of the art equipment to provide extended inpatient acute care for patients.
At St. Elias Specialty Hospital, we provide customized, physician-driven services for patients requiring longer stays in an acute care environment due to multiple or complex medical conditions. We are not a permanent placement for patients; rather we are an answer for many patients who are acutely ill and need to take the first steps towards rehabilitation or home.
