Providence Psychiatric Care Technician - Residential Treatment in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Psychiatric Care Technician (Prov Residential Treatment, Nights, 0.0 FTE) to Providence Residential Treatment Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Assist clinical staff with patient admissions. Provides assistance to staff and patients depending on clinical or administrative need
Accurately observe, report and documents patient behavior; recognize and indicate significant behavior changes
Provide basic patient care under the supervision of the primary caregiver. Assists patients with activities of daily living such as ambulating, nourishment, and community resource coordination. Responsible for glucose monitoring/checks and vital signs at the discretion of the primary care giver
Use sound judgment and initiates immediate action in emergency situations
Communicate effectively with families and patients experiencing a range of psychiatric illnesses. Deescalates and/or restrains combative and self-abusive patients as necessary
Escort patients within the facility as needed providing transportation via wheelchair or stretcher
Supervise patients and assist clinical staff in maintaining an orderly and safe environment in the unit. Responsible for maintaining the Behavioral Observation Sheet
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
CPR or BLS certification within 60 days of hire
First Aid within 60 days of hire
Preferred qualification for this position include:
- Minimum of one year experience working in a behavioral health position
About the ministry you will serve.
The Providence Adolescent Residential Treatment Program provides long-term treatment for 12-18 year old girls who have psychiatric disorders. Adolescents that need residential treatment have a history of failed outpatient treatment and at least one inpatient hospitalization for psychiatric reasons. Most adolescents who are in need of a residential program have severely low self-esteem and are having extreme difficulty in their relationships with parents, other authority figures, and peers. Our program is specifically structured to help adolescent girls who are struggling with the following problems: post traumatic stress disorder, sexual and physical abuse, dangerous risk-taking behaviors, self-mutilation, suicidal ideation, poor anger management, depression, anxiety disorders, ADD, and learning disabilities.
