Providence Health & Services Practice Support Specialist II - Pmg Ped Subspecialities in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Practice Support Specialist II (Pmg Ped Subspecialities, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Demonstrate professional skills in greeting patients/visitors, schedules appointments both withing the clinic and with outside agencies. This position is responsible for the linkage of patient calls routed directly to other caregivers for scheduling purposes and patient continuity of care. This involves working closely with clinical staff, managing the provider's schedules and monitoring capacity/productivity standards for the clinic. Maintains confidentiality and employee information.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of insurance, processing of bills (encounters) and have a working knowledge of multiple software applications for administering these functions. Responsible for scheduling appointments by phone and in person. Coordinates the scheduling processes of the team and communicates this information to the front desk, team leads, and providers for continuity of the workflow on a daily basis.
Demonstrate professional telephone etiquette and has the ability to document accurate messages and/or forward calls to the appropriate individual or department. Demonstrates professional inter-personal skills in communicating with providers, nursing staff, patients and other department staff. Position is key to the coordination of scheduling patient appointments for the providers as well as the communication of changes to the nursing staff and PSSI regarding daily schedules.
Use available resources and takes initiative to seek a solution when challenges occur and refer as appropriate to supervisory personnel. Recognizes errors, analyzes situations and makes independent decisions within department guidelines.
Under the general guidance of the manager, assist in working claim edits via work queues in order to post charges and the completion of claims for timely payment and/or to reduce the A/R. Must be able to work claim denials to ensure maximum reimbursement for services provided. Should be able to adapt to new EMR and/or other applications for reporting purposes to assist in the management of maximum reimbursement. Familiar with current procedural terminology codes as applicable for clinic
Required qualifications for this position include:
1 year Medical office experience in medical insurance systems, including insurance and referrals
Demonstrated written communication skills
Demonstrated analytical skills
Must be organized and self-motivated
Must have a familiarity with medical diagnose
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree in Medical Billing and Coding
1 year prior experience in Medical office billing and coding
1 year experience in working with Medicare and Medicaid insurance
