Providence Post Anesthesia Care Technician - (On call) in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling Post Anesthesia Care Technician (Post Anesthesia Care Unit, Variable, 0.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Provide basic patient care under the supervision of the Primary Caregiver and/or Professional Associate. Performs duties to assist in patient comfort, such as bathing, ambulating, nourishment, and other comfort measures, as needed.
Communicate effectively with the RN or other caregivers regarding patient issues, family issues, MD issues, and equipment. Communicates in a compassionate manner to patients, families, and visitors.
Record vital signs, and watches patient monitoring equipment alarms/signals. Reports changes in patient condition, problematic and unusual circumstances to Primary Caregiver and Professional Associates. Maintains a safe environment for patients, families, and co-workers.
Perform minor orthopedic procedures, such as placement of soft splints, sling placement, and fitting cast boots.
Assist in the patient admitting, transfer, and discharge procedure. Transports patients via wheelchair and stretcher.
Check and restocks supplies and emergency equipment and replaces as instructed. Maintains and operates multiple pieces of equipment in a safe and effective manner to improve patient care.
Establish and maintains daily communications with team and other departments. Recognizes and maintains patient confidentiality issues. Facilitates inter-department communication regarding transfers, admits, and discharges.
Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
H.S. Diploma or GED
BLS Required Upon Hire
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Completed training as a Certified Nursing Assistant
Six (6) months completion of CNA program or six months of health care
Administrative experience in a healthcare setting
