Providence Health & Services Parish Nurse Program Coordinator - Health Ministry Outreach *1.0/Day* in Anchorage, Alaska


Providence is calling a Parish Nurse Program Coordinator (Health Ministry Outreach, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE - 40 hours per week) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:

  • Promote the concept of parish nursing within faith communities and community organizations

  • Provide leadership for the daily operations of the Parish Nurse Program, integrating the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Faith Community Nursing

  • Develop training and continuing education opportunities, including ANA approved offerings, which help to sensitize Parish Nurses to the physical, spiritual and emotional aspects of well-being

  • Maintain referral function to respond to various inquiries and requests of persons and groups seeking information and/or assistance in accessing health care services

  • Maintain a database of active participants and services provided

  • Develop and maintains ongoing dialogue with faith communities in regards to congregational needs, parish nurse development, and relevant education

  • Implement care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers served

  • Complete initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Alaska

  • Five (5) years of experience in professional nursing, public health, or home health

  • Two (2) years of experience in training and development
