Providence Health & Services Monitor Technician - Emergency Department in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Monitor Technician (Emergency Department, Variable Shift, 0.9 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, AK. *This is a great role for someone with great customer service skills. Daily duties consist of clerical duties, fielding phone calls, paging physicians and central monitoring in a fast paced environment.
In this position you will:
Observe, record, and interpret patient cardiac rhythm monitoring results according to established unit protocols which includes: entering patient names and room number in central station monitoring system, monitoring cardiac rhythms and notifying RN of alarm situations.
Recognize and respond immediately and appropriately to potential emergency situations that arise.
Assist nursing staff with cardiac pattern interpretation.
Establish and maintain daily communication with team and other departments.
Facilitate inter-department communication.
Facilitate accurate transfer of information between appropriate individuals and departments in person and via telephone.
Accurately maintain department records, reports, and files per procedure.
Assist with the collection of data for quality measures as appropriate.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school graduate or GED
Verification of completion of basic EKG cardiac rhythm recognition course required with-in six(6) months of hire
6 months working in a healthcare or institutional setting
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Medical terminology course
Verification of advanced cardiac rhythm recognition course
6 monthsexperience monitoring ECGs in an area that has the capability to monitor at least 16 patients
