Providence Health & Services Mental Health Therapist - Alaska Cares in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Mental Health Therapist (AK Cares Clinic , Days, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
TREATMENT PLANNING: Identifies patient clinical problems in diagnostic summary and incorporates them into treatment planning process utilizing JCAHO, program standards. Participates in case management and is responsible for the patient and family treatment and the functions of assessment, charting, discharge, and post-treatment planning.
INDIVIDUAL, AND GROUP COUNSELING: Facilitates groups, and individual treatment sessions including crisis, and short-term, transitional therapy. Draws on theory and experience to provide a variety of therapeutic sessions and interventions specific to children and adolescents such as art therapy, play therapy or facilitating creative activities.
CONSULTATION AND COLLABORATION: Prepares and delivers lectures to clients, family members, or outside agencies, as requested. Works cooperatively with the Investigative Team at Alaska CARES, attending the Child Safety Team meetings. Establishes positive working relationships and role models healthy communication skills. Maintains all federal and state confidentiality laws/regulations. Coordinates and participates in case staffings.
PATIENT AND FAMILY CARE: Continuously monitors all patient progress in treatment and outcomes as a result of interventions. Provides structure and safe limit setting by developing therapeutic rapport with the patient and their family. Makes ongoing assessments of patient's mental health status and assists in crisis management. Provides patient education groups on a variety of mental health issues.
DOCUMENTATION: Documents a thorough assessment, including mental status exam, interventions and activities related to patient's plan of care. Participates in continuous quality improvement process. Maintains a working knowledge of the program's policies and procedures.
FAMILY INTERVENTION AND EDUCATION: Actively solicits parents and family members to become part of the treatment process.
Required qualification for this position include:
- Master's Degree in Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, or health related field
