Providence Health & Services Mental Health Specialist - Providence Residential Treatment in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Mental Health Specialist (Providence Residential Treatment) to the Providence Residential Treatment Department in Anchorage, Alaska. This is part-time variable shift.

In this position you will:
Continuously monitor all students.
Provide structure and safety by setting limits and developing therapeutic rapport with the students.
Co-facilitate group therapy as well as addresses treatment issues identified on the treatment plan.
Provide input to treatment team regarding identification of clinical problems for individual students.
Document assessments, interventions, and activities related to student's treatment plan.
Actively solicit parents and family members to become part of the treatment process.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree Psychology, Social Work, or related field
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 60 days of hire
Knowledge of mental health issues (both theory and practice), crisis intervention techniques, assessment techniques, and understanding of family systems dynamics
Strong crisis intervention, assessment, interpersonal communication, and organizational skills
About the ministry you will serve.
The Providence Adolescent Residential Treatment Program provides long-term treatment for 12-18 year old girls who have psychiatric disorders. Adolescents that need residential treatment have a history of failed outpatient treatment and at least one inpatient hospitalization for psychiatric reasons. Most adolescents who are in need of a residential program have severely low self-esteem and are having extreme difficulty in their relationships with parents, other authority figures, and peers. Our program is specifically structured to help adolescent girls who are struggling with the following problems: post traumatic stress disorder, sexual and physical abuse, dangerous risk-taking behaviors, self-mutilation, suicidal ideation, poor anger management, depression, anxiety disorders, ADD, and learning disabilities.
