Providence Manager Food Services - St. Elias in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Manager Food Services (Dietary, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) at St Elias Specialty Hospital in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position, you will:
Provide leadership by creating a positive working environment, providing support and encouragement to staff, addressing caregiver needs, and resolving issues in a timely manner.
Organize and direct department operations ensuring the appropriate and efficient use of resources are available to meet patient, visitor, and staff food and nutritional needs.
Examine and communicate alternative methods of providing required or new services within the department, considering the full scope of possible implications. Plan, utilize space, and implement programs to meet the short and long term organizational goals and objectives of St. Elias.
Interview, hire, provide orientation and training, and evaluate the performance of caregivers within the department, providing support, and coaching and disciplinary action when appropriate.
Ensure that all staff maintain appropriate license and/or certification, and that staff take advantage of opportunities for professional growth through continuing education courses and programs.
Ensure that all department equipment is maintained in good safe working condition and that staff are knowledgeable in the safe operation of equipment.
Plan, prepare and operate within the department budgets (capital, personnel, operations), maintaining communication with the Senior Manager for Clinical Operations regarding special projects and/or suggestions for positive changes that may affect department budget.
Develop and review department performance improvement and financial reports developing action plans to improve services and address negative variances. Ensure that department performance improvement initiatives are relevant, ongoing and that report are completed and submitted on time, maintaining a constant state of preparedness ensuring compliance to regulatory standards.
Ensure that all department policies and procedures are reviewed at least annually and that department and hospital staff is aware of new or changed policies and procedures.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition or equivalent educ/experience
2 years of experience at the Food Service Supervisor level
State of Alaska Food Handlers Certification
Preferred qualification for this position include:
- 2 years of experience at the Food Service Manager level in an acute care setting
About St. Elias Specialty Hospital
St. Elias Specialty Hospital is owned by Providence Health System. The hospital has 59 beds, almost all private rooms. The facility features state of the art equipment to provide extended inpatient acute care for patients.
At St. Elias Specialty Hospital, we provide customized, physician-driven services for patients requiring longer stays in an acute care environment due to multiple or complex medical conditions. We are not a permanent placement for patients; rather we are an answer for many patients who are acutely ill and need to take the first steps towards rehabilitation or home.
