Providence Health & Services Maintenance Mechanic II in Anchorage, Alaska

Description:

Providence is calling a Maintenance Mechanic II (Hickel House, Day Shift, 0.5 FTE) to Providence Horizon House in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.

This is a part time position at Hickel House with 20 hours per week and benefits.

In this position you will:

  • Paint, repair and maintain physical structure and equipment as assigned. Uses hand and power tools; drills, saws, ladders, sanders, etc.

  • Require the ability to understand written and/or oral instructions.

  • Maintain vigilance for safety related issues in performing regular duties.

  • Hear and respond to code calls, make requests for escorting, page for assistance, etc.

  • Retrieve written and oral work order requests and respond accordingly.

  • Maintain records of upcoming and completed PM’s, working with Facilities Support Supervisor.

  • Perform repairs as required.

  • Maintain control of all tools, supplies and materials issued.

  • Clean and organize maintenance work area, storage shed and garage.

  • Remove snow from emergency exit doors and sidewalks.

  • Conduct walking and vehicular patrols of facility grounds emphasizing theft and vandalism prevention.

  • Monitor parking areas to assure accessible parking for residents, staff and visitors using various enforcement techniques including citations and towing.

  • Clean, service and make repairs to heating, ventilating and related equipment.

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of minor electrical repairs, relamping and ballast replacement.

  • Maintain a working knowledge of minor plumbing repairs on sinks, toilets, floor drains and HVAC equipment.

  • Complete carpentry projects and minor building repairs such as formica repair, door hardware/protection, painting, taping and patching.

Qualifications:

Required qualifications for this position include:

  • High school diploma or GED

  • CPR certification

  • Alaska driver's license

  • 1 year general maintenance experience

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Hospital maintenance experience

Horizon House is an assisted living community where most residents have more autonomy than in a long term care facility. There are 60 apartments and two cottages; some with double rooms.
