Providence Infection Preventionist in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling an Infection Preventionist (Epidemiological Services, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Daily review and follow-up of microbiological reports to monitor the presence of infectious microorganisms. Reports must be reviewed concurrently so that data can be analyzed in a timely manner and appropriate action taken.
Perform data collection and analysis, and identifies hospital acquired infections. This includes reviewing patient records, documenting the appropriate information, reviewing with the Medical Director, and entering information into the computer database. Timely reporting and presentation to appropriate individuals and/or committees.
Timely reporting of communicable diseases to the public health departments.
Act as an Infection Control resource for departments. Assists with education and in-servicing of current and comprehensive policies and procedures.
Develop education activities that address all requirements of infection control specified by JCAHO, federal, state and local laws.
Assist with implementation of interventions to address identified infection control issues as needed.
Assist with implementation of infection control programs.
Identify, gather, and analyze all pertinent information necessary to accomplish Infection Control projects.
Timely reporting and written follow-up to non-hospital personnel as mandated by the Ryan White Act.
Participate in consultative services for patients, visitors, general public, volunteers, physicians, and staff members.
Establish strong team relationships, building trust and open communication.
Assume tasks as directed when manager is absent.
Completes Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related discipline. Nursing, Microbiology, or Pharmacy degree
Knowledge of the principles of epidemiology, statistics, sterilization, disinfection, and sanitation
Ability to read and interpret medical records, microbiology reports and enter data into a database
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alaska
Licensure/certification in infection control
Experience with responsibility for infection control procedures programs
