Providence is calling an Exercise Physiologist (Pulmonary Cardiac Rehab Unit, Day Shift, 0.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
DOCUMENTATION: Accurately documents all patient interventions and procedures according to department protocols. Completes QI information daily.
COMMUNICATION: Interacts and communicates with peers, supervisors, physicians, and patients and family members in a positive manner. Maintains patient confidentiality.
EDUCATION: Plans and implements a variety of educational sessions for patients, staff and community. Obtains, maintains and enhances professional expertise through continuing education and networking.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE/PROCEDURES: Understands and develops safe exercise prescriptions and a variety of patient assessment tools. Monitors and interprets ECG rhythms, monitors and interprets oximetry, adjusts oxygen flow rates after completion of required educational modules and competencies.
PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT/IMPLEMENTATION: Develops and implements educational offerings and program expansion.
Demonstrates safe use of electrical/exercise equipment at all times. Assists in maintaining proper supply levels and evaluating needs for additional supplies.
Completes initial and annual Competency Plan for assigned job and department.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
1 year of experience with emphasis on knowledge of cardiac medication, exercise physiology, nutrition, counseling techniques and patient education
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Masters of Science degree in Exercise Science
Certification by the American College of Sports Medicine
