Providence Health & Services Director, System Pharmacy Operations and Clinical Services - PSJH in Anchorage, Alaska


Providence St. Joseph Health is calling a Director, System Pharmacy Operations and Clinical Services - PSJH.

We are seeking a Director, System Pharmacy Operations and Clinical Services, to oversee and directs the development, evaluation, coordination, and implementation, of pharmacy clinical services programs throughout Providence St. Joseph Health (PSJH) which align with PSJH and Pharmacy Services Strategic Plan. Responsible for collaboratively developing and enhancing functional capabilities across a broad array of pharmacy, medical network, and health improvement activities delivered through PSJH operations.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in decision making, information sharing, and consensus building systems and processes in place for Pharmacy Governance Council related activities including the regular meetings of the council, task force meetings, and appropriate sub-groups. Key system support for Pharmacy Clinical Council, and advisory support for System Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

  • Coordinate and facilitate development and communication of initiatives directed by the Pharmacy Governance Council/Pharmacy Resource Council with the clinical managers of all ministries in the PSJH system.

  • Partner with key PJSH stakeholders to improve regulatory compliance or operational efficiency or promote system standardization (e.g., Supply Chain).

  • Provide system leadership for regulatory requirements such as USP 797/800. As needed, chair committees such as USP797/800 subgroup of the Operations and Technology Committee to provide system direction and facilitation. Functions as a PSJH USP 797/800 internal subject matter expert.

  • Review, develop, and gain Pharmacy Governance Council support for standardized measurement tools for pharmacy programs that can be used for local, regional or system reporting and outcome and financial metric purposes.

  • Remain current with new and evolving scientific, economic and management practices to identify unique management, operational and medication utilization opportunities and effectively disseminate them throughout PSJH.

  • Coordinate and facilitate training, and other educational opportunities related to functions of system pharmacy work for pharmacy students, residents, and other health care professionals. May serve as preceptor for practice management and clinical residency programs, including PGY-2 pharmacy practice administration residency.

  • Assist with identification of opportunities to leverage pharmacy expertise to improve quality, safety, the patient's experience, patient access to quality healthcare across the continum of care, and the economic performance of the organization.

  • Provide collaborative leadership, in partnership with the regional pharmacy leaders, to advance quality, operations, and throughout member hospitals.


Required qualifications for this position include:

  • Master’s Degree

  • Acute Care experience

  • 10 years of professional experience in pharmacy.

  • 4 years of diversified leadership.

  • Pharmacist license upon hire.

  • This role requires travel up to 30% of the time.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • PharmD
