Providence Health & Services Communications Specialist in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling a Communications Specialist II (Telecommunications, Evening Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Operates computerized telephone switchboard to provide effective and efficient flow of communication to staff, patients, physicians and general public.
Monitors and responds to the following emergency and life safety systems: Code 777 phone, Code Blue monitor, Fire alarms, Parking structure duress phones, Blood bank temperature alarms, Closed Circuit TV Systems, and Duress monitor.
Receives and communicates requests and information to the hospital security officers.
Monitors the Civil Defense and Intra-Hospital radio networks.
Controls and operates the public address system.
Operates the hospital action system.
Maintains complete knowledge of hospital activities and functions.
Maintains information logs, status boards and other resources with current, up-to-date information to ensure accurate dissemination of information.
Implements care/services that recognize age/diversity specific needs/issues of customers
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to read, write and speak English
Strong verbal communication and listening skills
Proficient in English written and verbal communication skills
Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities
Demonstrates a high level of accuracy, even under pressure
Friendly and service-oriented
Maintains composure under pressure
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
1 year experience in Medical related operator experience.
6 months experience in Using multi-line telephone and public announcement systems
Ability to build strong customer relationships
Demonstrated customer service skills
Effective interpersonal skills
Articulate and responsive to colleagues
