Providence Health & Services Assistant Clinical Manager RN - Renal Care Unit in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling an Assistant Clinical Manager Registered Nurse (RN) (Renal Care Unit Dept, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In this position you will:
Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the planning and delivery of nursing and other services.
Use leadership principles to anticipate and influence change.
Establish clear clinical practice expectations based on professional standards for areas of responsibility.
Use independent judgment to assign work to team members and to responsibly direct team members.
Support the implementation of organization policies and procedures in compliance with state, Federal and other regulatory guidelines to help ensure that high quality, cost-effective patient services meet or surpass accreditation standards.
Assume responsibility for obtaining information and expanding job knowledge and competency that reflects current practice.
Assist in the development, implementation and modification of programs and services needed to meet patient care and staff development needs.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Nursing
Registered Nurse without a Bachelor's of Nursing (BSN) degree or higher must obtain a BSN within 30 months of hire
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Alaska
3 years of clinical experience
2 years of recent clinical supervisory experience or charge nurse experience
Certification within area of expertise or practice (Nursing management, CCRN, CEN, etc)
Current BLS through American Heart Assn.
Preferred qualification s for this position include:
- Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
The RCU is a specialty unit focused on patients with acute and chronic kidney failure. Nurses on RCU become expert at caring for patients with this disease process and the many co-morbidities that accompany it. This may include failure of other organs, cardiovascular disease, congestive heart failure, major neurological problems, malnutrition and diabetes, among others. Our nephrology nurses perform peritoneal dialysis throughout the house, including Pediatric and NICU patients.
Renal care nurses are versatile, taking great care of a wide variety of patients. As a stepdown level unit we take overflow patients from the PCU as well as Medical/Surgical patients. As a higher acuity unit, our nurse to patient ratio is 1:4 and we do primary nursing care.
