Providence Health & Services Admissions/Assessment RN in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling an Admissions/Assessment Registered Nurse (RN) (Admitting, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Extended Care Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable. This position supports Providence Extended Care, Transitional Care, and Seward Mountain Haven.
In this position you will:
Participate in the execution of the goals and objectives of the Resident Services and Admissions Department and the mission and philosophy of the facility and the Sisters of Providence.
Coordinate the information from the assessment, interviews with family, family representatives and patient information from the medical records and hospital nursing staff to the Admissions Department and receiving neighborhood/nursing unit.
Escort new resident and/or family member to the receiving unit and make appropriate introductions and answer questions.
Seek to expand personal professional growth by individual study of current information related to current nursing techniques and Long Term Care specialty issues.
May participate in the orientation and training of new admissions and Health Unit Clerk staff.
Work collaboratively with Environmental Services and other departments to maintain a safe environment for each resident.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure by the State of Alaska
Knowledge of computer programs to include clinical programs, word processing, and spreadsheet software
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree
Certification in Gerontological Nursing
3 years RN clinical experience
Admission and/or long-term care experience
Cash handling experience helpful
Familiarity with State and Federal agencies and Medicaid programs and Medicare programs
Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid criteria for skilled nursing
About the Transitional Care Neighborhood
The Transitional Care Unit has a total of 52 beds with a variety of health rehabilitation issues (ages 20 and up). This is an exciting, busy unit with constant change, many admits, discharges.
