Providence Health & Services Activity Therapy Assistant in Anchorage, Alaska
Providence is calling an Activity Therapy Assistant (Theraputic Recreation, Day Shift, 1.0 FTE) to Providence Transitional Care Center in Anchorage, Alaska. We are a community of caregivers delivering every day on our Mission to provide compassionate care that is accessible for all - especially those who are poor and vulnerable.
In this position you will:
Implement and lead group programs as developed by the Activity Therapy Coordinator/Manager.
Under supervision, meet with residents on a one-to-one basis to assess resident’s activity needs, establish goals and determine interventions.
Respond in a fire or emergency situation, performing the role assigned.
Maintain and clean activity areas which include the office and Sunshine Room to ensure no health or safety hazards.
Maintain confidentiality of all resident medical and personal information or resident/facility financial information obtained while performing the duties of this job to anyone who does not have authorized access to such information.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Alaska driver’s license and proof of personal car insurance
1 year experience as a health care provider in a health care facility
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
2 years college education
Certification as an Activity Assistant with National Certification Council for Activity Professionals within 2 years of hire
6 months as an activity therapy assistant
About the Transitional Care Neighborhood
The Transitional Care Unit has a total of 52 beds with a variety of health rehabilitation issues (ages 20 and up). This is an exciting, busy unit with constant change, many admits, discharges.
